Bruno to Be “Toned Down”

Some of the rude stuff will be taken out for 15 version…

14:57, Tuesday, 14 July 2009

A less rude version of Bruno is being edited so the film can get a 15 certificate.

Sacha Baron Cohen’s naughty new flick, a mock documentary about a gay Austrian fashion journalist trying to become famous in America, was originally given an 18 certificate, which is how it was released.

Bruno has already grossed £5 million over here; the most ever made by an 18-certificate film, and has topped the box office chart both here and in the US.

However, with a 15 certificate likely to deliver a larger pile of cash, thanks to the all the young scamps that will be able to spend their pocket money going to see it, a less offensive version film is being edited for an additional release. It’s the first time that two separate versions of the same film have been on simultaneous cinema release in Britain.
