The X Factor star also tweeted US celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton, stating: "Heyy! thanks so much for the support, I've posted a clip of the real thing, cos the leaked version was a demo."

She later added: "Cannot thank my fans enough for what they did for me today! truly blessed to have a great team around me! big love!"

Despite appearing to have put the leak behind her, Cher's new single faced criticism on Twitter, with some users comparing Swagger Jagger to popular US folk ballad, Oh My Darling, Clementine and children's nursery rhyme, Little Donkey.

Cher is due to release Swagger Jagger in the next few weeks, with her currently untitled debut album set to follow in September.
