Cheryl Cole is obviously making a good recovery from malaria as she has flown to Los Angeles with rumoured boyfriend Derek Hough.

The pair touched down at LAX on Friday 30 July. Cheryl looked surprisingly perky after the 11-hour flight, although it was obvious from her clothes the stylish star is not yet 100 percent - she ditched her usual head-to-toe designer clobber in favour of sensible sandals and a jersey jumpsuit.

"Cheryl couldn't sit around any longer," a source told The Sun. "She feels 100 times better and wants to get some normality back. She was going crazy sitting around at home. She wants a change of scenery so has decided to go to Los Angeles and get back into the studio. But it's still nowhere near the work schedule she had before she fell ill."

Cheryl made her first public appearance in a month this week as she emerged from her Surrey mansion to visit Starbucks in Guildford. The Fight For This Love singer spent 11 days in hospital and a further two weeks at home after contracting malaria during a holiday in Tanzania with Derek in June.

In related news, Girls Aloud have denied reports they are planning to reunite without Nadine Coyle, who has been based in LA since 2006 and is putting the final touches on her solo album.

A source told The Sun the group would release an album as a four-piece in 2011. "It’s been a painful decision but they have decided that the future of Girls Aloud lies without Nadine," an insider is quoted as saying. "Relations with her had been strained within the camp for a while."

But a spokesperson has refuted the report and said all five girls have signed a new record deal and would soon return to the studio to record their sixth album.
