Now Mag Defends MC Harvey's Claims About Cheryl

Now magazine has released a statement regarding its recent article with MC Harvey about his supposed 'secret relationship' with Cheryl Cole.

Following reports that the Girls Aloud star has started legal proceedings against the publication, Now has "strongly defended" their interview with the So Solid Crew rapper.

In the article, Harvey - real name Michael Harvey Jr - claims that he became close to Cheryl following her divorce from Chelsea footballer Ashley Cole, where he went as far as saying he would of married the Promise This singer.

His revelations sparked a Twitter battle with Cole, with the Geordie babe denying all knowledge of their rumoured hook-up, accusing Harvey - real name Michael Harvey Jr - of "smoking something".

The 32-year old then claimed to have evidence of their fling, with the 21 Seconds star tweeting: "Do you actually want me to tweet some of the messages you emailed me @cherylcole pipe down and stop playing the saint in front of your fans."

Harvey's spokesperson went on to release a statement regarding their Twitter spat, telling the Daily Star: "Michael has felt that Miss Cole should not have publicly accused him or the magazine of publishing untruths, and in fact should have let this all blow over.

“As a result, Michael has been publicly criticised and condemned by Cheryl via Twitter, but the truth in the article remains the same.

“Michael feels he should back up these comments and allegations - but has no intention of doing so in the press or public domain.”

Now magazine has since vowed to defend Harvey's interview, with a statement on their website reading: "We completely and wholeheartedly stand by our exclusive and refute any accusation that it contains untruths.

"Michael Harvey himself released a statement earlier this week standing by what he revealed in his interview in Now magazine. The article is not defamatory and was published in good faith - we will strongly defend it."
