The tweet in question was a lyric from her new single, We Found Love, which states: “Sometimes it feels like we found love in the most hopeless place”.
The couple, who famously split after the Yeah 3x singer physically assaulted his ex at a pre-Grammy party in 2009, became friends on Twitter earlier this year – a move that was criticised by concerned Rihanna fans around the world – and Chris posted a message which he had meant to send her privately.
This new connection has led to speculation that he is keen to rekindle their romance. When Breezy realised his retweet had been picked up by media outlets, he deleted it.
We Found Love, which is produced by Calvin Harris, debuted on US radio on 22 September and is the lead single from Rihanna’s next album, her sixth in six years.
In related news, RiRi has also announced she will work with Eminem again, after their 2010 smash Love The Way You Lie.
She said in a new interview that she would “love to” hit the studio with the rapper again. "We've already been talking about it," she confirmed, adding Em was “one of the most clever poets right now”.
