The Concert For Diana has taken place at Wembley Stadium with Elton John opening and closing the lengthy show.

There were several technical glitches with singer Fergie having sound problems and many lengthy gaps between performances. Comedian Ricky Gervais had to fill for several minutes as problems held up proceedings.

Before the concert started Prince William showed his questionable music taste saying: Im really looking forward to Duran Duran and Elton. His ex-girlfriend Kate Middleton looked on with David Beckham, Posh, Sienna Miller and actor Dennis Hoppper also in the crowd.

Dianas sons appeared on stage to present Duran Duran with Wills telling the crowd: This evening is about all my mother loved in life. Her music, her dance, her charities and her friends and family."

He also implored the crowd to: Have an awesome time.

There was a distinct lack of atmosphere earlier in the afternoon with the new stadium far from full. Extra security measures are in place after recent car bomb incidents

Lily Allen, Bryan Ferry, The Feeling, Will Young, Rod Stewart P Diddy and Nelly Furtado, Take That and Kanye West all played. Becks, Tony Blair and Nelson Mandela also played tribute to the Princess during the big gig.
