Critics Choice Awards 2009

Yes its awards season! Today the critics give gongs to Slumdog Millionaire and Heath Ledger.

The Critics Choice Awards have taken place in California with Brit-flick Slumdog Millionaire winning five prizes.

Danny Boyle (of Trainspotting fame) picked up Best Film and Best Director at the ceremony.

The late Heath Ledger won Best Supporting Actor for playing The Joker in The Dark Knight. Director Christopher Nolan picked up the award.

Best Actor went to Sean Penn for his role as a gay politician in Milk.

Best Actress was shared between Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married) and Meryl Streep (Doubt). British actress Kate Winslet won Best Supporting Actress for The Reader while Richard Gere picked up a special award for his charity work.
