Diana Vickers: "Cheryl Was A Fantastic Mentor"

Plus the XF star tells us who she is tipping to win the show this year...

Diana Vickers has exclusively told MTV UK what she really thinks of Cheryl Cole's mentoring skills on The X Factor and who she is tipping for glory this year.

Ahead of her Oxjam gig on Tuesday, we caught up with Miss. Vickers to find out what she thought of Cole's mentoring skills when was in Cheryl's category, back in 2008.

Diana claimed: "Cheryl was a fantastic mentor. She’s a real tough cookie and put that into her contestants."

The Once singer added:  "It was her first year and she did a great job with us girls."

As history seems to be repeating itself after Cheryl landed the girls category this year, we had to ask Vickers whether she thinks the Promise This singer can win the show for the third year running.

Diana claimed: "I think as well as it being about the judge and the mentor, it’s more about the individual contestant and how much they want it."

She continued: "It's also about what they give along with the support of the judge."

Despite being an obvious fan of Cheryl's, Diana is NOT tipping one of her girls to win the show this year, but is in fact supporting one of Dannii Minogue's boys to take home The X Factor crown.

When asked about who she thinks could win the show this year, Diana confessed: "I think it’s really difficult to say who’s going to win."

"I hate it when people say ‘I’ve found my winner’ from the first audition as there are so many weeks, even months left of the competition."

She added: "But saying that, one chap that has stood out for me was Matt Cardle. For me, he stood out by a mile."
