Streetdance 3D has beaten Hollywood blockbuster Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time to top the UK Box Office.
The British dance flick, which is the UK's first 3D dance movie took between £1.79 million in its opening weekend, trouncing Jake Gyllenhaal's Prince of Persia which made just £1.37 million.
Streetdance 3D, which features Britain's Got Talent winners George Sampson and Diversity was shown in less cinemas than its blockbuster rival but still managed to claim the number 1 spot.
James Richardson, who produced Streetdance said of the film: "The success of StreetDance 3D has far exceeded our expectations. The fact that an independent British film has beaten the US heavyweights just shows how well Streetdance 3D has connected with audiences across the country."
Russell Crowe's Robin Hood fell to to third place with former number 1, Iron Man 2 claiming fourth position.
Bollywood production Kites was the third highest new entry, completing the top 5 UK films.
