DJ AM was filming an MTV show called Gone Too Far when he died of a likely drug overdose last week.

The star- real name Adam Goldstein- was found dead with prescription pills and drug paraphernalia around his body on Friday in New York

AM had battled drug addiction for 11 years and was taking strong painkillers after surviving a plane crash with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker in 2008.

In the show Gone Too Far he had been trying to help addicts with their problems. Filming on the MTV programme finished last Tuesday.

Some reports had claimed his death was suicide after he recently split from model girlfriend Hayley Wood. Other sources have said it was an accidental overdose.

An initial autopsy was inconclusive.
