MTV's Brand New: 10 For 10 nominee Ellie Goulding has recently revealed that she was shocked to pick up the Critics Choice awars at The BRIT Awards 2010, claiming that she didn’t believe she was worthy of the award. The 23-year-old UK pop star, who has had a UK number one album, also says that she doesn’t feel very 'rock 'n’ roll'.
In a recent interview Ellie said: “I always imagined – in fact I planned – to have a job and get a house and a car because you don’t really go off and become famous from Hereford in Wales. I never thought fame was an option. But everything that has come along has helped me achieve it in some way. For example, about five years ago I woke up one morning and wanted to run. I just started running. And that helped me focus on what I wanted.”
She added: “'My band are all in long-term relationships and really sensible, so the most rock 'n’ roll thing we do is throw fruit at the walls. I'd gone to the BRITs feeling I didn't really deserve to be there. I'd only released one single and winning a prize wasn't something I'd been working towards. Getting an award meant a lot, but the rest of the night was bizarre. I was sitting on a table with Jay-Z and Girls Aloud. That kind of thing isn't supposed to happen to girls like me.”
