Ellie Goulding Live Review

iTunes Festival - London Roundhouse 08/07/10

After being named as this year's BRIT's Critics Choice Award winner, Ellie Goulding has gone from strength to strength as she took to the stage at Camden's Roundhouse to headline last Thursday's iTunes Festival.

As former MTV presenter Dave Berry and iTunes host Fearne Cotton welcomed her on stage, the packed venue was filled with chants of Ellie's name as she was given a heroes welcome before she had even struck a string of her guitar.

Ellie kicked off her set with some mellow tracks from her album before playing the first song she had ever written, Wish I Stayed which Goulding explained she wrote while in bed wearing a dressing gown.

Far from the comforts of her bathrobe, polite Miss. Goulding thanked the crowd after performing each track as she gushed that she couldn't believe she was on stage at the Roundhouse after being in the crowd watching Passion Pit a year ago.

Ellie then launched into her latest single, Guns and Horses which she clearly enjoyed singing, putting in an energetic performance which the crowd loved.

The singer then introduced the track, Salt Skin where she ditched her guitar for drums and had a battle with her drummer, showing Goulding's fun and wild side.

The highlight tracks for us here at MTV were Ellie's debut release Under The Sheets which the audience enjoyed immensely, so much so Goulding invited the crowd to sing-a-long with her.

Before leaving the stage for a well-deserved shower after expressing how hot and sweaty she was, Ellie ended her set with Starry Eyed which the crowd went mad for.

It was like a scene at Glastonbury Festival as fans, eager to catch a glimpse of their idol, jumped on friends shoulders to see Goulding's animalistic drumming routine.

Goulding put on an amazing show proving that yes, you can believe the hype as she is not about to give up her title of the most promising female vocalist  of this year yet.

The iTunes Festival continues at Camden’s Roundhouse until July 31st.
