Houston, who sadly passed away before the Grammy Awards in February this year, will become the third artist ever to receive the honour - with only Bon Jovi and Queen previously taking home the title.
Show producer Bruce Gilmer paid tribute to the I Will Always Love You hitmaker, stating that the gong is reserved for those who have "made a tremendous impact on the world".
He added to The Hollywood Reporter that Houston had "one of the world's greatest voices", claiming: "[She was] a huge influence on music and other artists. We all know her music lives on."
