Florence And The Machine Reveal New LP Details

Florence Welch has announced that she is heading back in the studio this October to start work on her second studio album.

The Florence and the Machine singer claims her new LP will be an 'eclectic mix' of different genres after Welch started listening to lots of different artists in preparation to start recording the follow-up to her monster hit album, Lungs.

Florence told BBC 6 Music: "I'm definitely going to work with a couple of new people. I'm hoping I'll have some time off in September and then in October or November time I'll start really concentrating on doing the full thing."

She continued: "I always listen to Tom Waits, Crystal Castles and this guy called Chad VanGaalen and then weird French new rave stuff. It's quite an eclectic mix and I'm not sure how it's going to come across in the new album. It kind of sinks in subliminally I think."

Welch, who was announced at a performer at this year's MTV VMAs also admitted that she sometimes finds it hard to transfer her ideas to songwriting and added that compared to Lungs, her next LP will feature less 'blood and guts.'

The 23-year old singer claimed: "I'm quite easily distracted and my thoughts are hard to pin down, but it's good in some ways. I think it was like lyrically we're moving away from the blood and guts of the first album."

Welch added: "The first one was animal and anatomical and this one is chemical and elemental but my thought process changes so quickly from one song to the other so I can never say what the whole theme of the album is going to be."
