Gorillaz Reveal 'The Evangelist' Details

The new character will act as the counterpart to the Boogieman...

Gorillaz have revealed more details about the latest addition to the animated line-up, The Evangelist.

As we previously reported, fans were given the opportunity to design the new character to join the cartoon collective, with Gorillaz site user Jirouta providing the award winning design.

Now, it appears that The Evangelist will serve as a counterpart to the Boogieman, who has appeared in some of the band's recent work.

Writing on their official website, the group describe the new character as: "the light to [the Boogieman's] awful shade,"

The post also called The Evangelist: "a similar entity, but the flip-side of the Boogieman. He/she may even be revealed as the Boogieman's avenger. His/her outer appearance is yet to be defined. Many rumours fly around of his/her description."

As well as The Evangelist, the group's original members Murdoc, 2D, Russell Hobbs and Noodle will all remain with the band.
