Brits Win Big At Grammys

Across the pond Adele, Coldplay, Radiohead, Robert Plant and Duffy take big prizes

UK artists have cleaned up at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles winning right across the categories.

Coldplay were given the prestigious Song Of The Year award for Viva La Vida- beating the four other UK acts nominated.

Chris Martin's band also won three other awards including Best Rock Album.

Humble London gal Adele picked up both Best New Artist and the award for Pop Vocal Performance for Chasing Pavements. Accepting the awards she namechecked Duffy- who won Best Pop Vocal Album.

Adele said: "I want to thank my manager, my mum, she's in London. And Duffy, I love you. I think you're amazing."

Radiohead- who performed with a marching band- won Best Alternative Album and Best Special Edition album for In Rainbows.

And another Brit Estelle won best rap/sung collaboration for American Boy- which features Kanye West.

Wrinkly rocker Rober Plant was given five gongs for his recent album recorded with Alison Krauss.

At the ceremony in Los Angeles rapper Lil Wayne picked up four of the eight awards he was nominated for.
