Travie McCoy from rap group Gym Class Heroes has recently revealed that his solo forthcoming album Lazarus wasn’t always an upbeat project.
He told The Associated Press: "It's just where I was at mentally. Art imitates life and I tend to write a lot about my experiences and things I've been through. And at the time, there was a lot of crazy stuff going on in my family; there was a couple deaths.
"All that was kind of creeping its way into the music and I was like, 'I need to stop this right now.’ I've been known to kind of wear my heart on my sleeve so to speak. And this time around, I just wanted it to be fun."
