Jade Has Cancer

The reality star receives the news in the Diary Room in India

Jade Goody has been diagnosed with cancer and is returning home from India to receive treatment.

Goody, who was appearing in the Indian version of Big Brother to make amends for accusations of racism on last years Celebrity Big Brother here in the UK, received news of her illness in the Diary Room. The 27-year-old was called in to speak to her UK doctor who told her the results of a recent biopsy.

According to reports, it is not yet clear whether Jade has womb or cervical cancer, but the latter is far more common in women of her age. The reality star is said to have been having tests for some time, following a series of collapses.

Jades spokesman Mark Thomas commented: It is pretty obvious that she was looking forward to her time in the house, but her health is the first priority and she is flying back for treatment and more tests."

Celebrity publicist Max Clifford also commented on the story on this morning's GMTV. "The most important thing is to get her back with people who care for her," said Clifford.

"It is dreadful but the irony of it is that Shilpa Shetty was instrumental in inviting Jade on the show, it was a great oppportunity and something she was really looking forward to."
