The Middlesbrough-born singer, who is a dead cert to top the UK singles chart this weekend with Impossible, also claims he hopes to break the 'curse' that has surrounded previous male XF winners like Leon Jackson, Joe McElderry and Matt Cardle, by proving he's a worthy artist.
Speaking of his forthcoming LP, Arthur told us: “Naturally there’s pressure for people to enjoy it, but I think that’s good pressure.
"I want to be going into a studio thinking I need to put the best possible twelve tracks or whatever it is out there because I haven’t worked this hard to have my first album flop.”
The 24-year old continued: “My album is going to be quite diverse. It’ll have hip hop influences, it’ll have rock influences, it’ll all be self-penned and the collaborations on it will be good ones I think.”
While on the subject of possible duets - with Arthur telling MTV that mentor Nicole Scherzinger 'better' work with him - James also name checked Emeli Sande and Labrinth as artists that he would love to team up with in the studio.
When asked about the Clown singer - who previously stated that she was keen to make music with James - he said: “I’ll be working with Emeli Sande if she wants to work with me."
Arthur then went on to reveal that his list of possible producers for his debut album is "endless", before adding: "I’d like to get in the studio with Labrinth, that’d be great.”
Not only does J-Arth have a bank of tunes that he's “accumulated over the last ten years”, but he also claimed that he's penned “songs for other artists if they want them", calling out boyband of the moment One Direction to come and see what he has to offer.
Speaking of his previous material, James explained: “I’ve got a few songs that I think would really suit One Direction, so if they were interested then I’d be more than happy to give a song to the biggest band in the world."
