Jessie J has taken to Twitter to slam accusations made in a new book that she was forced to hide her sexuality.
In an extract from unauthorised biography Jessie J: Who's Laughing Now - which was published in The Sun today - author Chloe Govan has claimed that the Laserlight singer was ordered to withhold the fact she was a lesbian by record bosses.
Govan stated in the book: "Jessie might have been with boys in the past — but she is 100 per cent gay. Jessie was openly lesbian and didn’t hide it.
“She was advised not to come out, though. Certain people thought being bi was trendy, exotic and a fashion statement. It would increase her allure."
She continued: "Being gay would alienate people. They knew how important image was and asked her to tone it down a bit.
“There are so many homophobes out and there were fears of a career-damaging backlash.”
However, Jessie has since taken to Twitter to comment on the claims, telling her followers: "Its funny how many people I've datedslept with that I've never even met according to the tabloids.
"BUT what's that?! *whispers because its a secret* I'm really a lesbian?! Ha! Thanks for writing yet another boring untrue story. I thought I was still dating Tinie, NO Ellie G, NO Mark Wright....bla bla bla! #cantkeepup #noneofitstrue."
Earlier this week, Jessie was also forced to deny allegations that her role as a coach on The Voice was affecting her health, stating on Twitter: "Can I be totally honest for a minute? I was in and out of hospital with REAL health scares my whole childhood. I have an irregular heartbeat I've had all my life & I suffered a minor stroke at 18...
"Then I go on The Voice UK & stories are like boomerangs, the media tries to throw them away but just keep coming back. Lazy... It's an easy believable but untrue way the media works."
She continued: "But I will say this. My health is a very important part of my life & I don't take lightly to the media making a joke about it.
"I have made huge sacrifices to making sure my body and mind can deal with my life & I am happy, I am healthy & I am trying to make the UK proud."
