Two men have been arrested for allegedly plotting to rob and murder UK soul singer, Joss Stone.

According to The Mirror, police picked up the pair near her country home in Devon last night, where they were caught with swords, rope and a body bag on their persons.

It is thought the men, who are aged 33 and 30, also had maps and photos of her estate, and were originally arrested for planning to burgle the Super Duper Love singer, who is worth a cool £9million.

However, cops confirmed this morning: "As a result of enquiries the two males are now being detained for the further offences of conspiracy to rob and conspiracy to murder. Major crime detectives are continuing to investigate."

Reports claim that their plan was rumbled after neighbours spotted two men "acting suspiciously" in a red Fiat Punto, as they drove the car around the deserted country lanes of Cullompton, where 24-year old Joss lives.

Detective Inspector Steve Parker said of the incident: "The two men in custody had in their possession information relating to an individual in the Cullompton area and items which lead us to suspect that they may have intended to commit a criminal offence."

He added: "Police enquiries continue and the men remain in custody. We're unable to say any more at this time but I would like to thank the local residents for reporting the suspicious car."

Joss, who was present at Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding in April, was not at home as yesterday's events unfolded.

A spokesperson for the singer has since told MTV.co.uk: "Joss Stone is aware of the arrests and the police are keeping her informed."
