Could Kano Crack The States?

Americas biggest telly network targeted at African-Americans is launching a hip-hop awards ceremony and will have a category for best UK artist.

The BET (Black Entertainment Television) Hip-Hop Awards will take place in Atlanta on November 12 and could be just the thing to break some of our biggest urban acts in the States " the networks main channel reaches more than 83 million households in America.

UK fans are being given the chance to decide the outcome too, with MTV Base and BBC 1 Xtra joining forces to give people the chance to nominate their favourites on interactive telly and the net.

The Brit hopefuls list, which could feature the likes of Kano and Sway, will be announced on October 12 and voting will take place on Base and 1 Xtra till October 27. The UK winner will be announced on November 1.
