After starting his show 30 minutes late, the superstar rapper performed the first track from the sound tower before heading to the main stage and performing hits from his entire career.
To close the show, the All Of The Lights star told the 40,000-strong crowd about a chance meeting with Amy. “I was at Paris fashion week a few years ago with my fiancée at that time,” he said. “We went to a house party and I met this beautiful, amazing, talented and funny woman. This is in memory of her.”
He then performed Tears Dry On Their Own and Back To Black.
Earlier in the day Dionne Bromfield opened the revellers’ stage with a moving tribute to her godmother, who passed away on 23 July. The 15-year-old told the crowd: “She was an amazing singer. She was not only my godmother, but she was my mentor and my boss as well,” and broke down in tears as she covered Amy’s hit, Love Is A Losing Game.
