Kasabian Rock Despite Speaker Blow-out!

Kasabian and The Enemy, Hammersmith Palais, London, February 13

Put them in a tiny arena and swaggering Leicester rockers Kasabian are more explosive than ever. Even a dodgy speaker (which conked out for a muted minute during powerhouse opener 'Shoot The Runner') couldn't dampen the band or crowd's enthusiasm.

The fan reaction, as the tight-trousered troop surged through corking numbers from their first album and the recent 'Empire', was absolutely mental - and this coming from someone who's been to a helluva lot of Kasabian gigs.

In fact one fan got so excited in the hot-house atmosphere that he chucked a bottle at the stage, narrowly missing Serge during a wicked solo guitar moment. After shooting off a dirty look though, the cool as a cucumber strummer got back to the task in hand.

The band turned the heat up even more with encore numbers, LSF and Clubfoot. Cannot wait for Glastonbury!

Support came in the form of Coventry three-piece and self-confessed indie "lunatics", The Enemy.

It took a while for the crowd to warm to them but finally the cocky git attitude of lead singer Tom won most of us over and with tunes like 'It's Not Okay' and '40 Days and 40 Nights' you'd be pushed to bet against them featuring on Kasabian's stereo, alongside the Oasis, very soon.
