Kelly Rowland: "I Did Not Forget About My Urban Roots..."

The R&B singer talks about her new dance music inspired album...

Former Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland recently opened up about signing with new label Universal Motown. The When Loves Takes Over hit-maker also revealed that the album is going to be a lot different to what people would expect from her.

She told Yahoo: "I'm settling in very well. I love the team, they are so on it, so prompt and ready and just passionate. You appreciate that as an artist, because when one sees your vision and you [both] click, that's half the battle to me. I have a record on there I love called 'Grown Ass Woman' - it's my favourite. [Ne-Yo] wrote three smashes [for the album], and this was one of them."

Kelly also touched on the dance inspiration on the album, claiming that she will never forget where she comes from even though she is doing something very different on this new record:

"Dance inspired this record completely. But I will definitely say that I did not forget about my urban roots nor could I ever. That is one of the reasons why I'm here. I won't let you down with this record, trust me. I'm still thinking of one! It's really difficult because there are so many things involved in this record, from the feeling, to the sound, to the thoughts. I even want intros on this record, because I miss that feeling."
