Kiefer Sutherland Charged Over 'Headbutt'

Kiefer Sutherland has been charged by the NYPD over an incident with fashion designer Jack McCollough.

 

The 24 actor allegedly headbutted the man after he bumped into actress Brooke Shields at the Costume Institute Ball in New York.

 

He surrendered himself to police yesterday (May 7) and was reportedly charged with third degree assault.

 

A police source told the New York Daily News: “When the lawyer realized paparazzi could be sitting on his [Sutherland's] doorstep for two to three weeks, suddenly he wanted to come in right away and make it all go away.”

 

However the paper also reports that Sutherland’s lawyers will try to work out a cash settlement with McCollough.

 

A new series of 24 is due to begin filming at the end of the month so show bosses will be hoping the star’s legal problems don’t delay their schedule.
