Lady GaGa has been heavily criticised by avid John Lennon fans after a picture appeared of the singer playing the late legend's piano…in her underwear.

The Beatles singer's son, Sean Lennon posted the snap of GaGa tinkering the ivories of John's white piano in her undies on Twitter, with the post: "With gaga at mum's house, she's belting on the white piano..."

However, the pic - which was taken at Yoko Ono's home in New York caused outrage from many of Lennon's fans who claimed the piano should not be played by anyone and should be put on display.

Sean jumped to the Alejandro singer's defence, hitting back at people on Twitter stating: "Pianos meant are to be played. Why is everyone so uptight? What should we do, lock it away in a dusty room? So judgmental."

He added: "Come on, lighten up... life's too short, there're enough real problems in the world…Firstly, he gave that piano to my mother for her birthday, it is hers, secondly, he was not uptight the way you seem to be."

GaGa also took to the social networking site yesterday to post a snap of her latest tea cup, branded with the word 'whore.'
