Lady GaGa has said she loved the Born This Way-themed episode of Glee which aired in the US on 26 April.

Not surprisingly, the episode has been criticised by some groups for glorifying homosexuality, as it featured several gay storylines.

Following the criticism, the Judas star was quick to defend the show on Twitter. “I really loved Glee’s Born This Way episode. I admire the show for being brave  + fighting for such modern social messaging. Never back down,” she wrote.

The president of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) also spoke out this week to defend the episode and the show in general. “Fair minded Americans are tuning in by their millions to watch shows like Glee because they don’t care if someone is straight or gay – what they care about is seeing characters and stories they can relate to,” he said.

The special GaGa episode also saw the characters wearing T-shirts emblazoned with their insecurities, such as Mr Schuester wearing a ‘Butt Chin’ shirt and Kurt Hummel’s reading ‘Likes Boys’.

The extended Born This Way episode of Glee airs in the UK on Monday 9 May.
