Leona Lewis has claimed the record for fastest selling debut album with Spirit.

The singer who shot to fame by winning talent show X Factor currently tops both the album chart and singles chart with Bleeding Love.

Lewis sold 375,000 copies of the album in a week which topped the previous record set by Sheffield boys Arctic Monkeys. Spirit also becomes the fourth fastest selling album of all time in the UK.

The Spice Girls meanwhile could only make it to number two with their much heralded Greatest Hits, Westlife sit at number 3.
