1) For those who don’t know about you and your music, tell us a little bit about who you are and where you’re from…

My name is Joel Corry, I’m a DJ and producer from North London. I have been DJing since the age of 13, and started producing music when I was at college. I DJ all over the UK, and tour across Europe during the summer. I have a weekly radio show on KISS FM, and my latest single 'Sorry' is currently smashing it in the charts. I am also a massive fitness freak and Nandos lover!

2) Describe your sound in three words…

BANGING – GROOVY – VIBES.

3) Who inspired you to start a career in music?

I’m inspired everyday by artists who are flying high in the charts and touring the world. My dream has always been to have hit records and perform on the big stages. I’ve been working towards this for 10+ years. I remember going to Ibiza for the first time when I was 18 and watching Carl Cox play at Space, it was just on a different level and super inspiring.

4) Who are your biggest musical influences?

I grew up during the UK Garage era. DJ EZ was a big early influence for me. I used to tape DJ EZ’s radio show every Friday night and then listen back to it all week at school. I would try and emulate his skills on my decks in my bedroom, technically he is the best DJ I have ever seen. Calvin Harris is another musical influence for me. He has been so consistent, producing so many hits across different genres over the years, he is incredible.

5) Tell us about the writing and recording process for your new ‘Sorry’…

I was sitting outside the gym in my car listening to some old school UKG. Monsta Boy & Denzee’s ‘Sorry ‘I Didn’t Know’’ popped up on a playlist, it was always one of my favorite records growing up. The original has a male vocal, and I had this idea to flip it onto a female vocal. I dropped Hayley May a message, and she sent me a voice note singing the hook. It was a magic moment and I knew it could be a smash. We got in the studio the following week and laid the track down in a day, the rest is history!

6) What can we expect from your live shows?

I genuinely love performing live, and it comes across in my shows. People always say that I look like I am having the time of my life when I DJ, and it’s true! I spend a lot of time preparing VIP edits of tracks solely to play in my live sets, so you can always expect a few surprises. I’m all about the journey and prefer extended sets. Once I’m on the decks you can’t get me off!

7) What has been your biggest career highlight so far?

Landing my first Official UK Top 40 was a total dream come true, and one of the best days of my life! I also broke the record for the most shazamed track ever in one day, that was really cool. Fisher dropping one of my tracks at Coachella this year was mad too!

8) Have you met anyone and been totally starstruck?

I didn’t quite meet him, but Elton John gave my track a spin on his radio show, and then gave me a big shout out. I couldn’t believe it, so surreal hearing a legend like him saying my name and talking about me, my mum was buzzing ha!

9) What’s on your playlists that people wouldn’t expect?

I am a HUGE Ed Sheeran fan. I spend a lot of time on the road when I am touring. I always have my Ed Sheeran playlist on in the car. I know all the words to his tracks, it’s just a shame my voice is not as good as his! I love a bit of old school 50 Cent too, 'Get Rich or Die Trying'is my favorite album of all time!

10) When can we see you live?

I’m currently on a big summer tour, playing out in Zante, Malia, Kavos, Ayia Napa, Magaluf and Ibiza every week. My tour dates are up on my website www.JoelCorry.com. I also have a UK winter tour coming, keep a look out on my socials @JoelCorry for updates on that.
