Liam Gallagher has taken aim at the Michael Jackson statue that Fulham FC boss Mohamed Al Fayed recently unveiled at the club’s stadium.

"It's a bit silly isn't it?" Liam said of the statue, which is believed to have cost £100,000. "It could be worse, it could be Justin Bieber – but then it wouldn’t be that high would it?"

The statue at Craven Cottage was Al Fayed’s way of paying tribute his friend, who once visited the grounds. But it has been widely criticised for being out of place outside a football club.

When Liam hasn’t been mouthing off, he’s been busy in the studio – the ex-Oasis frontman has revealed that Beady Eye’s second album will be ready within months.

“The other big difference between Beady Eye and Oasis is that we’re not going to put the ball down, sit around in a big house and go ‘we’re great’,” Liam told the Irish Times. “We won’t be taking months and months in the studio either. We don’t want to roll this over into next year. There will be an awesome new album coming soon. “

Beady Eye’s debut LP, Different Gear, Still Speeding, was released in February.
