Spinal Tap have lived up to high expectations, taking the roof off Wembley with a solid gold Live Earth performance, followed by an exclusive chat with MTV News.

Hello Wimbledon! screamed guitarist Nigel Tufnel, aka comedy giant Christopher Guest, from the Tap as he bounded on stage in a trademark spandex outfit with his Spinal bandmates.

The Tap bashed their way through Stonehenge, complete with miniature replica of Stonehenge, recreating the famous scene from the Spinal Tap movie, the specially written song Warmer Than Hell, which bassist Derek Smalls dedicated to Our favourite planet! No, not Jupiter, and Big Bottoms, which saw bass players from loads of other of todays bands, including Metallica, Beastie Boys and Snow Patrol, join Tap on stage.

Then backstage, MTV News caught up with Tap boys to talk green living.

So how green are Spinal Tap?

David St Hubbins: We do our best, you know. Nigel was saying that whenever were in a car, rather than using air conditioning, we roll the windows down. It makes all the sense in the world. And as long as we all do our part then the planets got a slim chance of survival.

Nigel: There are some tips you can do. If youre lucky enough to have a car, I take nails and a hammer and I put them in the tyres and the tyres go flat.

David: And then you cant drive. And you cant use any gasoline and you wont muddy up the air.

Nigel: Exactly.

Then Marty Dibergi, documentary, or rock-u-mentary if you will, maker that stars in the film alongside the band and the man credited with reuniting the band for today, said: Do you feel that if you didnt put those nails in the car then you would drive your car?.

Nigel: Well I dont know how to drive anyway.

David: Hes already ahead of the game.

And how about any green Spinal tips for MTV viewers?

Derek: Turn off your telly.
