Louis, who managed the girl group following their win on 2002 talent show Popstars: The Rivals, was reflecting on why Nadine’s solo album Insatiable (released during GA's hiatus) only managed to get to No 47 in the UK albums chart.
"She didn't marry a footballer. If she'd married a footballer, she'd have been a big star," he told the paper.
Just last week Louis had a dig at the group, suggesting they must be re-uniting "for the money" and questioning Cheryl's singing abilities.
Walsh and Cheryl clashed earlier this year after Chezza claimed in an interview that Louis had "zero involvement" in Girls Aloud's success.
