The XX Win Mercury Prize

The XX have picked up the Mercury Music Prize for their debut album XX.

The XX were the early favourites for the prize having impressed critics and fans with the bass driven sound on their ambitious debut record.

The group were among nominees who performed at the ceremony- which took place in Central London.

Oliver from ther band had earlier told MTV that they were surprised even to be nominated and that they had only made the album for themselves.
