Twilight and Slumdog Millionaire are up for our golden popcorn statues…

Twilight has bagged the most nominations for the MTV Movie Awards 2009.

The vampire movie is up for a cool seven awards at our ceremony- which takes place in LA on May 31.

Brit-flick Slumdog Millionaire is the second most nominated film- competing in six categories.

Both those are up for Best Movie along with The Dark Knight, Iron Man and High School Musical 3: Senior Year.

One of the most hotly contested categories will be Best Breakthrough Male where Twilight co-stars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner face off.

However they’ll face competition from our very own Dev Patel. He and real-life girlfriend Freida Pinto are ‘hot’ favourites to take the Best Kiss award.

The MTV Movie Awards will this year be presented by Andy Samberg- the Saturday Night Live host behind comedy hits I’m On A Boat and I’m A Boss.

Eminem will perform live on the night exclusively for MTV.
