MTVs Spanking New Music Tour kicked off in Cambridge last night with electric performances from The Fratellis, The Ting Tings"href="/artists/the-ting-tings">The Ting Tings and Danish pop-stars Alphabeat.

The tour continues for two weeks with other bands like CSS, The Zutons, MGMT, The Futureheads, The Pigeon Detectives, The Metros and many more.

MTV News caught up with each of the acts to find out what they were up to. Alphabeat were ecstatic about being on the tour and said they were curious to see The Ting Tings perform.

Anders B told us "I like the bass drum that she had on a stand (Katie White), a tribal drum that looked pretty cool, well see what thats about."

The Ting Tings singer Katie White told us about their live shows too: "Because theres only two of us we have to put 100% in to performing it doesnt work any other way youve got to launch yourself at it."

Jon Fratelli, the lead singer of The Fratellis, told us that their next single Mistress Mabel "is nonsense from beginning to end" but he likes the fact that it "squeezes a lot into a small amount of time." Jon also told MTV news that he describes their music as a " rip off of lots of great bands" and revealed that although it may seem improbable they aim to be like their favourite bands Led Zep and Pink Floyd.
