Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo have split.

The singer and former MTV TRL presenter began dating in 2006 but it appears the pair have decided to call time on their relationship.

Rumours of a split between Minnillo and the 98 Degrees star surfaced recently but Vanessa managed to dodge the speculation by stating earlier this month that her relationship was: “very much still on.”

However, representatives from both sides have confirmed the split with Minnillo’s rep stating to PEOPLE: "They have amicably split but remain good friends who still greatly care for one another"

Lachey, who was previously married to Jessica Simpson and starred in reality TV show Newly Weds with his ex-wife, has also confirmed the news.

Both reps have insisted the pair are: "still friends. It was the right thing for both of them to do."
