Nicki Minaj 'Disappointed' With M.I.A Finger Gesture

As the Young Money rapper explains her Grammys performance...

Nicki Minaj has revealed she felt "disappointment" after M.I.A. flicked her middle finger to the cameras during Madonna's Super Bowl performance on 5th February.

After the Queen of Pop herself dismissed M.I.A.'s onstage antics as "irrelevant", Minaj claims she would have never flipped the bird out of respect for Madge.

Speaking of the incident on Ryan Seacrest's radio show, the Young Money star explained: "My first feeling was disappointment, only because of my respect for Madonna.

"I'm a cuckoo lady too, but I would never be able to do it off the strength of Madonna. There are fines that go into these things, and I just thought, 'Oh my God. I hope they don't penalise Madonna'."

The Stupid Stupid rapper continued: "She's done some crazy things becoming the icon that she is, so I think that's why she was able to forgive M.I.A.

"Madonna knows the artist that M.I.A is and it was her decision to take the risk with all of us. We were kinda all firecrackers and she took that risk.

"I love M.I.A and I don't want to say anything that is the wrong thing, but me personally, I couldn't see myself doing it, just for the respect for Madonna. I wouldn't want any backlash to come back on Madonna."

In the same interview, Nicki also explained the reason behind her eccentric performance at the Grammy Awards - where her character Roman Zolanski was visited by a priest to perform an exorcism on 'him.'

The 29-year old said: "Roman was created two years ago, Yesterday was just a coming-out party. It was very literal and streamlined if you know who Roman is and if you know what he's all about; if you don't know the Roman character then you have to digest it.

"It's the most comfortable I have been on stage in my entire life, because, first of all, the Grammys chose 'Roman Holiday', and I could not play them another record after they heard that,

Speaking the character of Zolanski, Minaj added: "I had this vision for Roman. People around him tell him that he's not good enough because he's not normal and he's not blending in with the average Joe.

"He wanted to show that not only is he amazing, and he's confident but he's never gonna change, he's never gonna be exorcised."
