The Spice Girls were among the famous acts performing in a celebration of British music as the greatest show on earth came to a close last night.
The five-piece girl group performed at the Olympic Stadium in Stratford on top of London taxis - singing Wannabe and Spice Up Your Life to the assembled thousands.
Billed as a 'Symphony of British Music', the closing ceremony saw contributions from a host of homegrown talent young and old - with Emeli Sandé, Tinie Tempah, One Direction, Jessie J and Ed Sheeran representing the new school.
Take That, Elbow, Muse, Beady Eye, Fatboy Slim, Kaiser Chiefs and the Pet Shop Boys were among the other acts to perform - along with Russell Brand singing I Am The Walrus and Eric Idle performing Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life.
Jessie J teamed up with Queen to sing the band's classic We Will Rock You, providing one of the evening's most memorable performances.
The whole show was performed on a giant Union Jack designed by artist Damien Hirst - and there were also appearances by supermodels Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell to celebrate British fashion, as well as hundreds of dancers and performers in supporting roles.
The night ended with the extinguishing of the Olympic flame and a spectacular firework display.
