One Direction are hoping to perform for the Queen following their huge success in America.
The X Factor group, who have become the first UK band to score a No.1 album Stateside with their debut disc Up All Night, have revealed they are keen to celebrate their achievement by singing at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee gig in June.
Singer Harry Styles has reached out to event organiser Gary Barlow in a bid to make their dreams come true, telling The Mirror they would love to take to the stage with The Beatles legend, Sir. Paul McCartney.
The 18-year old told the tabloid: "I’d love to meet Her Royal Highness. And I grew up listening to the Beatles ’cos my dad used to play them over and over again. I still listen to them now. They’re quite an inspiration.
“It’d be amazing if Paul McCartney was up for doing something... I love him. That would be incredible."
He added: “We’ve got a lot of big plans but I’m sure anything would be struck out of the diary if an invitation came along.”
Speaking of 1D's hope of being involved in the event, a concert insider told the newspaper: "Obviously Gary has close connections with Simon Cowell and The X Factor, and is keen to get One Direction signed up.
“A few things need to be moved around but hopefully the boys will be signed up by the end of the month.”
In other related news, Styles also revealed that Rolling Stones star Ronnie Wood is keen to work with the boyband, adding: "We were at a party a while ago and Ronnie said he wanted to come on with us and play guitar. I love the Stones so I was like, ‘Cool’. It’d be amazing.”
Following their smash hit LP, 1D have also announced a 20-date North American Tour, which will kick off in Fairfax on 24th May and end in Florida on 1st July.
Harry said of their overnight US success: “It’s a massive cliche but it’s 100% the stuff of dreams, an unbelievable feeling.
“We’re five normal lads from the UK given this massive opportunity and know that without the fans we’d be nowhere. We feel incredibly grateful.”
