Following in the footsteps of fellow UK boyband The Wanted - whose track Glad You Came was previously covered by the Glee cast - teacher Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) will sing the song on a forthcoming episode of the smash hit show.
Speaking to The Sun, Morrison revealed that he plans to watch The X Factor group perform the tune online, before taking on the song himself.
When asked about 1D, the 33-year old admitted: "I've just heard of them, they're really taking over the States. We are covering one of their songs on Glee — What Makes You Beautiful. I need to YouTube it to practise."
He added: "They've made it now though, they're on Glee! This will probably help their record sales too."
Despite their US success, 1D member Niall Horan is allegedly fuming after their Stateside bosses have slapped a sex ban on the band in order to protect their squeaky-clean image.
A source close to Niall told The Sun: "He's raging about it — all the lads are. Four of them are single and they've been told to stay that way as it appeals to their American teen fans.
"Niall is fighting off the women with his Irish accent and good looks so he's having to live like a monk. Niall and the boys are being kept on a really tight leash and it is tough for them.
"But they are so determined to make it work in the States they'll do whatever they are told. Quite simply a sex scandal over there would be the end of the band."
His bandmate Harry Styles - who recently dated cougar Caroline Flack - is also said to be seething about the new rules, with the insider stating: "He's come out of a relationship and wants to enjoy his freedom.
"But he's having to behave himself and keep the women at arm's length. They are all young lads and they have urges like anyone else their age.
"And the worst thing is the American girls are literally throwing themselves at them so there is so much temptation in their way."
