One Direction will reportedly be performing at the London 2012 Olympic Games closing ceremony.
Following performances from the likes of Emeli Sande, Dizzee Rascal and Arctic Monkeys at the opening event on Friday (27th July), 1D fans will be pleased to know that the lads are to due to take part in the closing ceremony on 12th August.
There has been much speculation over whether The X Factor group will be appearing at the event in two weeks, with The Mirror claiming they are expected to be joined by pal, Ed Sheeran - who wrote song Moments on their debut album.
Band members Niall Horan and Liam Payne have already been tweeting about their excitement for the Olympics, with Horan writing: "Don't know if it's just me, but the excitement in London is unbelievable! Its gonna be a great games."
Liam added: "If I wasn't in 1D, running the olympics would of been my dream :)."
The What Makes You Beautiful band are currently working on their second studio LP, with Louis Tomlinson teasing last week that Directioners can expect a new single "very soon."
A spokesperson for 1D has since refused to comment on their involvement in the closing ceremony, but keep it MTV.co.uk for more on this story…
