Police Protection for R-Patz!

He’s just too popular for standard health and safety regulations…

Twilight star Robert Pattinson could receive special police protection when he’s next in New York, according to reports.

The debate about his security follows R-Patz’s recent trips to NYC, during which he was mobbed by hoards of crazed fans trying to touch him and lick him.

In July, so many of the actor’s fans flocked to see him in the Big Apple while he was filming romantic drama Remember Me that the production was almost forced into lockdown in a bid to protect him from being dry-humped to pieces.

And back in June, the 23-year-old was reported to have been clipped by a taxi while trying to escape a huge crowd of drooling vampire followers.

"Enough is enough,” a NYPD insider tells IrishCentral. “His [R-Patz’s] security people aren't up to the task of keeping him safe, and they have no idea how to deal with the crowds this guy attracts."

The insider goes on to suggest that R-Patz shouldn’t cause such a problem, seeing as he’s not even a king or anything: "We have celebrities a lot bigger than this guy who can come and go in perfect safety because we know how to take the right precautions,” he said.

“We have presidents and kings come and go. This poor kid can't get in or out of a car without things getting dangerous."
