Stifler from American Pie + Brian Fontana from Anchorman + McLovin from Superbad. They're the comedy ingredients that make up new movie Role Models. And from what weve seen, its a recipe for success.
Sean William Scott called in to MTV towers this week and chatted to MTV News Rickie about everything from Stifler to Becks to.er, jizz.
MTV News: So tell us about the movie
Seann William Scott: If you like movies like 40 year old virgin, Wedding Crashers, Knocked Up , American Pie its in the same vain as those movies. My character and Paul Rudds character we learn a little lesson but at the end of the day it really is just a super crazy, funny comedy.
How was it working closely with Bobbe J. Thompson?
SWS: Bobbe J. is this 13 year old kid who is amazing. I kept encouraging him to swear as much as possible. I was like this kid is one of the funniest actors Ive ever worked with before, and I kept saying to him drop the F-bomb, drop the F-bomb and he was like really? It was a great experience and I actually love the movie. I loved The Rundown and I loved American Pie but I think this is my favourite film Ive done.
Was it good fun to shoot?
SWS: Oh yeah. I mean there was a lot of improvisation and sometimes when you do that you go home and you think oh we were so funny when you actually really sucked. But this time it really is funny. This movie is one of thise rare gems where you watch and youre glad it all worked.
So do you class yourself as a role model?
SWS:No, never. Come on dude.
I guess you did drink pee in American Pie
SWS:Well I drank a little bit of jizz in American Pie 1. No one wants you as a role model after you drink a bit of jizz in your first film.
Ok so career-wise who was your role model growing up?
SWS: I would have to say David Beckham.
Really? Becks?
SWS: Yeah. I used to watch a lot of soccer and he was a real inspiration. When I was in High School I watched David Beckham anytime I could. I actually saw him once when I was hosting the MTV Movie Awards with Justin Timberlake, he was there with his wife. He had his blonde ponytail and a white suit and I was too scared to go say hi.
You were star struck?
SWS: Yeah more than any actor. I was hosting the show so I should have at least had the confidence to go and say hello!
Whos the funniest actor youve ever worked with?
SWS: Definitely Jane Lynch in this movie Role Models
More than Will Ferrell?
SWS: Will is great and we had that scene in Old School but Ive never been as blown away as with Jane. She is so funny. It was like seeing a piece of art in reality.
You are a massive cult figure for your role as Stifler in American Pie. DO you ever get bored of talking about that movie or does it annoy you when people call you Stifler?
SWS: Never no. Thats such a huge compliment. If it wasnt for that film then I wouldnt have a career. I wanted to do Role Models so I could go back and cater to that character Steve Stifler. Wheeler is a grown up Stifler. The guy you hate to love.
How much of Stifler was acting and how much was you?
SWS: I was similar in the way that I am devious but Stifler is kind of a jerk. I was a good guy but still devious. Every single guy is like Stifler in some way!
How does Christoper Mintz-Plasse deal with being called McLovin all the time?
SWS: He made me feel kind of old because I dealt with that years ago. But he came up to me and asked me about the whole being called by your characters name thing and I said I was cool with it and he said he was too. When I asked him why he said it was because he hooked up with two chicks at the same time in LA who he was sure were only doing it because he was McLovin. Thats pretty awesome right.
What music are you into?
SWS:I like the new Snow Patrol song. I love most music, but I really like Coldplay too.
Do you still keep in touch with Justin after hosting the MTV Movie Awards?
SWS: Oh yeah we get together every weekend, throw down some cardboard a break dance a little. Ive actually produced and written a lot of his songs.
Really?
SWS:Oh yeah wait til you hear his next album!
