Ronan Keating looks almost certain to be number one in the album charts this weekend with his Songs For My Mother record.
The former Boyzone-man has made a comeback with this new album- which has handily been released the week of Mother’s Day.
Right now Ronan has sold nearly twice as many copies as his nearest rival- Annie Lennox’s greatest hits collection.
Last week’s number one U2 is likely to fall to number 5 or 6 by Sunday with Pete(r) Doherty’s solo album scraping into the Top 10.
Earlier this week Keating talked about the heartache behind his new record. His mother died of breast cancer and he has recorded a song that was played at her funeral
He told the Daily Star: “Carrickfergus (a traditional Irish song) was played at my mother's funeral so there was a real emotional attachment. Recording was tough as it brought up a lot of old ghosts.
“In the studio, with Carrickfergus in particular, I had to re-take a few times as I had a lump in my throat.”
