Britain’s Got Talent finalist Shaheen Jafargholi has been inundated with offers following his powerful tribute at the Michael Jackson memorial on Tuesday (July 7), it has emerged.
According to a spokesperson from Shaheen’s record label Syco, the 12-year-old, from Swansea, South Wales has received offers and praise aplenty. "To say we have been flooded with offers since Shaheen sang at Michael Jackson's memorial is an understatement," Shaheen’s spokesperson told the Daily Express.
Shaheen, who appeared as a guest on the huge-rated Larry King Live chat show in the US earlier today, has reportedly been asked by the Jackson family to head a planned second Michael Jackson tribute concert at London’s 02 Arena on August 29 – which would have been Michael’s 51st birthday.
Motown founder Berry Gordy, meanwhile, is quoted as saying he’d sign Shaneen tomorrow, while other reports claim that Disney is keen to sign up Shaheen as their new child star.
On the night of the memorial itself, the young singer received praise from legends including Lionel Ritchie, members of the Jackson family and Stevie Wonder, as he recalls excitedly. "Stevie Wonder was really nice,” said Shaheen. “I was introduced to him and he could have just said hello, but he was so nice to me. He told me I had an amazing voice. It was amazing."
On his performance the 12-year-old added: "I was quite nervous. He [Michael] was lying there in front of me, his family were there. I had to do him proud. I was there because he was a fan of mine so I had to be on top form."
A report in today’s Sun predicts Jafargholi will earn £10 million by the time he’s 16.
