Al Pacino has revealed that he turned down the chance to play Han Solo in the original Star Wars trilogy because he didn't understand the script.
The Hollywood star was quoted by the Daily Telegraph at a Q&A event in London last week, where he admitted that he had been offered the role.
"It was mine for the taking but I didn't understand the script," Pacino confessed.
Harrison Ford had not been George Lucas' first choice to play Solo - with Jack Nicholson, Chevy Chase and Bill Murray all reportedly being considered alongside Pacino.
In other Star Wars news, Leonard Nimoy has declared that he would be happy with the idea of appearing in the new Star Wars movie - despite his fame as Spock from the Star Trek sci-fi franchise.
Asked about the idea of working with director JJ Abrams again on Star Wars Episode VII, he said: "Ooooh, wouldn't that be fun? I would love to."
And he dismissed the idea that it would be too confusing for fans.
"No, no. I think it would work wonderfully. I think it would work just great. I think it would be a great idea, and somebody ought to tell him that."
Florence Welch is reported to be in the frame for a role in the new movie.
