Ex-Sugababe Mutya Buena is reportedly trying to persuade the original members of the Sugababes to reform.
According to
The Sun, Mutya who left the girl band in 2005 to be replaced by
Amelle Berrabah, is hoping to ‘cash in’ on the recent line-up change which saw the last founding member of the group,
Keisha Buchanan leave.
Buchanan made way for Eurovision hopeful
Jade Ewen after rumours of a rift between Keisha and Amelle emerged.
Original member
Siobhan Donaghy who was replaced by
Heidi Range in 2001 after a series of rows with Mutya and Keisha, is also said to be considering reunion.
The Sun has reported Beuna phoned Donaghy and Buchanan to convince the girls to reform the 1998 line-up as she believes they could enjoy huge success under a different name with new songs.
A friend of Siobhan told the tabloid: "She met up with Mutya for the first time in ages over the summer and they got on well.”
They added: "Now Mutya is convinced the original three could be huge again. She was on the phone all last weekend trying to convince the girls to reform. Siobhan's considering it."
A source close to Keisha also stated: "Mutya is very keen to do this. Keisha has her solo career on the go - including recording with new star Jay Sean - but she feels more comfortable as part of a band.”
"There were arguments in the past, but all three realise it was because they were young, headstrong and finding fame hard to cope with.”
