Taylor Swift has unveiled a wax figure of herself at Madame Tussauds in New York.

The Mine singer, who was dressed in an identical outfit to her wax-self, gave the replica figure two thumbs up before telling crowds: "I think that the face looks a lot like me and this is so crazy. This is wonderful. I'm really thankful."

Swift's statue comes complete with a custom-made guitar, decorated with 2,000 Swarovski crystals.

Meanwhile, the 20-year old singer - who is rumoured to be dating Hollywood actor Jake Gyllenhaal, has confessed to our US team that she turned to songwriting because she was lonely.

Taylor, who released her new LP, Speak Now on Monday, revealed: "I turned to songwriting because I didn't really have anybody else to talk to,"

"I was going through a very lonely phase at school, which a lot of kids do. It's just when you're going through it you feel like you're the only one going through it."

She added: "I changed a lot over the course of my life, and having written songs since I was 12, your perspective changes. But I think part of growing up is realizing that you'll never change, but you'll never stay the same either."
