Night At The Museum Beats Terminator

Ben Stiller’s film tops the US box office…

Night At The Museum 2 has beaten the Terminator Salvation film to top the US box office.

The family adventure starring Ben Stiller took $70m at cinemas across North America this weekend. It also feartures Owen Wilson, Steve Coogan and Ricky Gervais.

In second place the Terminator sequel- which stars Christian Bale and Sam Worthington- made $34million while Star Trek sits at three.

The Terminator re-imagining has received mixed reviews in the US. The Hollywood Reporter said: “The machines rise to the occasion. Too bad the dramatic element's just as robotic.”

Time magazine’s critic wrote: “at a certain point, you may feel so pummelled that you check out.”

The New York Times said: “Terminator Salvation feels both comfortable with its limitations and justly proud of its accomplishments.”

The movie is released in the UK on June 3.
